China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) and Sina.com announced the Project Hope Earthquake Orphan Assistance Program
On May 12th, 2008, an 8.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in Sichuan, China. The earthquake caused unthinkable number of casualties and enormous property damage. Many parents died in this catastrophe, their kids orphaned. The welfare of these earthquake orphans drew the attention of potentially every caring citizen. Care must be given to these kids for them to fight the disaster, overcome the difficulties, grow up healthy and live happy lives. Such care is not only the responsibility of the Chinese government, but also an obligation of the entire society.
Our love is their new family, society and their support! CYDF and sina.com jointly announced the "Project Hope Earthquake Orphan Assistance Program". We are in need of monetary donations to support the orphans to continue their educations as well as to cover their living expenses till their graduation of high school or college as donors' wish.
Annual living and education expensed are listed below base on the school ages,
- Elementary school student (typically 6-12 years old): RMB3000
- Junior high student (typically 12-15 years old): RMB5000
- High school student (typically 15-18 years old): RMB8000
Under the current circumstances that the accurate count of the orphans and their personal information are not yet available, CYDF is anticipating to first accept the donation and later pair the donors with earthquake orphans as soon as the children's information are available. It is expected that you and the beneficiary establish correspondence after the placement.

For the ease of future communication, please also note clearly your contact information including full name, address, zip code and phone number. A receipt will be sent to you for each donating transaction. You may also donation to the "Earthquake Orphan Assistance Program" without pairing with specific students as you wish.
Entrepreneur, cooperation, or organization which donates over 1 million Yuan may be eligible for naming its own charity program.
